Today, the Unbeaten China will meet the unstopable Philippines (Gilas - Pilipinas) in the Final event of the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship to dispute the continent's lone outright berth in the 2016 Olympics. The winner will clinch a place in the Rio de Janeiro Games, while the sides that finish second, third and fourth will book places in FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments.
Gilas Pilipinas will need much sharper execution and a helluva game from their stars. China were once the dominant side in the region, winning 13 of 15 FIBA Asia Championships from 1975 to 2003. China are now just one victory away from a spot in the Rio de Janeiro Games. Both the Iranians and Japanese will take part in a FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament (OQT) next year.
